Every week on Thursday mornings, I meet with seven other pastors. We live and serve in different contexts, in different churches and actually in different states. We call in on a video conference and share about life, family, work and what it means to be faithful in the midst of a constantly changing world. Most of us didn’t know each other before we started meeting weekly but now these seven women have become some of the most important women in my life. They too have shared the same feeling of affection and respect for each other as we have grown to know and love one another.
I am more and more convinced that life is often complicated and overwhelming. Sometimes, in the midst of it, it is easy to feel so very alone. I have felt that way at different seasons of my life. I wonder if you have ever felt the same? I decided to gather together these women who might want to live life where we share it together in an intentionally authentic way. We gather weekly to have the hard conversations, to fight for each other, to remind each other of the truth and to cover each other in prayer. We gather together to live as family and community.
Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages, “Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another…” I have seen this play out in my life in such a profound way. I want you to be blessed as I have been blessed. I encourage you to find those people to be your community. It’s one of the best investments in yourself you can make. I invite you to Covenant Community Church in Vacaville or to any other Christian church that is near you. Take a chance and be authentic with good people. You never know… they could become the most important people in your life.
I have not met many of you reading this, but as I finish, know that I am praying for you right now. May you find the community that you need. May you know that God loves you. May God give you His peace.
In His Grip,
Pastor Julia Leeth
